This program can easily be combined with a dome ride. Either from M'hamid to the bivouac or in the late afternoon in M'hamid or on the way to Erg Chegaga.

Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate (4 hours)
We leave Marrakech early in the morning and head southeast. Enjoy the breathtaking views as you drive through the Atlas Mountains and small villages. At an altitude of 2260 m we cross the Tichka Pass.
The scenic drive over the Tizi-n-Tichka pass takes us to Telouet. Here, at an altitude of 1800 m, stands the famous Kasbah of El Glaoui, once the seat of power of one of the most powerful Berber princes. The roof terrace offers a wonderful view of the High Atlas and the village of Telouet.
After a drive through the picturesque Ounila Valley, we reach Ait Benhaddou, where you can take time to visit the world-famous Ksar (fortified village). It is one of the most famous buildings in southern Morocco and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
In the provincial capital Ouarzazate you have the opportunity to get to know the Glaoui Kasbah Taourirt (UNESCO World Heritage Site), one of the most powerful Berber residential and defensive buildings made of rammed earth in this region.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Mhamid (4 hours)
We drive through wild, rugged mountain landscapes to Agdz, where a visit to the Ksar with the Kasbah Tamnougalte is worthwhile. We reach Zagora, the "gateway to the desert", formerly an important caravan station, the sign "52 days to Timbouctou" still bears witness to this. After a short drive, we reach the traditional pilgrimage site of Tamegroute, southeast of Zagora. In the town, which is also known for its pottery, you can visit the 16th century Zaouia of the Nassirya Order, which has an old Koran library attached to it. From Tamegroute we drive past the sand dunes of Tinfou further into the desert to near Mhamid, the southernmost desert oasis in the Draa Valley.
Here the journey begins over sandy tracks into the middle of the nearby sand dune area, where we reach a permanently installed bivouac (mud huts, see photo below).
A lovingly prepared dinner awaits you. You will spend the night under the stars in a nomad tent.

Day 3: Mhamid – Erg Chegaga (2-3 hours)
The journey continues westwards to the huge dune field of Chegaga, which is even more extensive than the Erg Chebbi near Merzouga. The route leads over sandy tracks and through stone desert deep into the Moroccan Sahara.
On the way we stop at the Source Sacré. This spring, surrounded by acacias and palm trees, flows in a narrow stream and is the typical picture-book oasis in the middle of the desert. We reach the enormous dunes of the Erg Chegaga, where nomads still live with their herds of camels. Once you have arrived at the bivouac, you have enough time to enjoy the magic of the almost endless desert in peace and quiet. Let yourself be enchanted by the beauty of the sunset. You will spend the night in a nomad tent.

Day 4: Erg Chegaga – Marrakech (8-9 hours)
After breakfast we continue our journey. It takes us westwards across Lac Iriki, a dry lake in a lonely, impressive desert landscape. We pass a fossil site and drive towards the Jbel Bani, which has always accompanied us on our right. At the foot of the mountain ridge lies the small village of Foum Zguid, an oasis that probably seems almost unnaturally green to us after the days in the desert.
We cross the Anti-Atlas past small settlements surrounded by palm groves and arrive in Tazenakht, a center of carpet production. One of the carpet workshops can be visited here. From Tazenakht we drive through dark basalt rocky mountains - foothills of the 3304 m high Jbel Siroua, a lonely volcanic mountain.
We will travel over the High Atlas back to Marrakech, where we will drive you back to your riad.
